208 views 0 February 24, 2023 Updated on January 13, 2024 Websetgo Administrator

The Installing Splashtop Streamer allows our technicians to remotely access your device. You are usually discouraged from providing this level of access; however, a trusted technician requires this level of access to perform their duties.

Please read these instructions before proceeding. The process is not straightforward on Apple Mac. You will be required to manually grant security permissions to the application.

First, use the link provided by your technician to download installation file(s) for Mac. You may use the link for all Apple Mac computers you require.

Before you begin (in order):

  1. Read this email in full.
  2. Restart your computer and leave running for 10 minutes.
  3. Ensure you are connected to a fast, secure, and reliable, home or office internet using Wi-Fi or ethernet cable. Not mobile hot-spot.
  4. Temporarily disable/pause any cloud storage software.
  5. Temporarily disable/pause any known backup software.
  6. Temporarily disable/pause any anti-virus software.

Software (application) Installation:

This process will install one (1) primary application on your computer.

  1. Use the link supplied to download your installation file(s). Note the location. (We suggest downloading to the desktop.)
  2. Double-click on the “Splashtop_Stream_Mac_####.dmg” file to open a “SplashtopStreamer” virtual drive containing the installation package.
  3. Double-click on the “Install Splashtop Streamer” installation package to begin installing Splashtop Streamer.
  4. An installation window may guide you through process:
    1. Introduction: Description.
    2. Destination Selection: Do not change unless instructed.
    3. Installation Type: Summarises disk space needed.
    4. Installation:
      1. When requested, provide your device username and password (administrator).
      2. When requested, give the installer access to requested files or folder.
    5. Done: If prompted select “ok” or “close” to exit the installation.
  5. Drag the “SplashtopStreamer” virtual drive into the trash to close.
  6. Delete or file the “Splashtop_Stream_Mac_####.dmg” file.

An active guide may open after the installation (see below). You will need to manually give Splashtop Streamer permission to bypass the three (3) Apple Mac security defaults shown in the guide.

Clicking the “request permission” buttons in this guide will open specific areas Apple Mac system settings. You are required to activate Splashtop Streamer in each of the three (3) system setting areas. The active guide above is not required and sometimes is delayed, you may continue without the guide.

Adjust Privacy & Security:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Select Privacy & Security.
  3. “Activating” means that the toggle to the right side of the applications is active (green)
  4. Locate and activate Splashtop Streamer in each of the following Security & Privacy areas:

Splashtop is “passive” software. It’s not altering or monitoring anything on your computers.

You will be asked to grant us permission if and when we conduct remote support.
